I think it tastes pretty good! Especially with some soy and oyster sauce.
Some people (in Taiwan) prefer MA LA CHOU DOU FU.. which is a much spicier version of it.
You should give it a try.. just avoid smelling it.

It tastes like regular fried tofu... with a better after-taste. It smells bad and the first taste of it that you get resembles the smell and (probably) taste of a fart, but... it doesn't last very long once you're salivating all over it.

It looks the same as the kind of tofu you describe.. except it usually has a crispy outside shell (not necessarily).

Yea.. well there's fried tofu and there's fried stinky tofu. You probably just had fried tofu. Stinky tofu smells like farts, literally.
